Flowers for Dili
How we began
As a crazy idea that arose from a walk down a Dili road. From recognising a need that are small steps for an opportunity.
The project comes from a place of love and a genuine desire to help in some small way to repair the damage done by generations of ignoring the pain of one of our geographical neighbours in need. A very brave and caring neighbour who lost their own lives helping Australian soldiers survive and come home safely in the
recent past.
Philosophy
Our responsibility is the one we each accept, make room in our lives for and offer from the heart.
In real terms we plan to opportunities that create:
jobs, skills, hope, training and empowerment especially for Timorese women and their families - a people who are long overdue for some care and compassion.
We refuse to be just another Western back looking, turning and walking away...
Our Work
Is to create appropriate partnerships allowing us to accumulate the talent, capability and expertise to create an export and local flower market for Dili in Timor L'Este. To create a local grower and market co-op to provide a training ground for the industry in all aspects of the business. To create a local/ immediate market through embassies, restaurants and hotels as well as an international export market.
